Round and diamond pins are

from two holes in a workpiece.

To position a locating pin between grid points, use either an adjustable adapter (Standard and Heavy sizes only), or a shorter fixed adapter mounted on a Multipurpose Extension Support.

FEATURES: Extremely useful for locating from existing holes or slots in a workpiece. Locating-Pin Adaptors use off-the-shelf Round and Diamond Locating Pins to fit hole diameters exactly. Round and diamond pins are often used together to locate from two holes in a workpiece. Round Pins are also useful as side locators. Adaptors are precision ground for accurate height location, in a choice of support heights to match other types of height locators. The fixed adaptors shown here mount directly in a multipurpose hole for maximum accuracy. Patent number 4,834,358.
LOCATING FROM TWO HOLES: When a round pin and diamond pin are used together, the round pin is the primary, 2-axis locator, while the diamond pin is the secondary, 1-axis locator. Diamond pins are relieved, to locate only in 1 horizontal axis. This prevents binding while loading and unloading the part, yet still maintains high accuracy. The round pin is usually mounted at a grid point, in a multipurpose hole, using a fixed adaptor. The diamond pin is usually located between grid points, to match the workpiece's hole spacing, using either a shorter fixed adaptor mounted on a Multipurpose Extension Support, or an adjustable adaptor.

LOCATING PIN SIZES: Available to fit hole diameters from 1/8 to 3/4" (1/8 to 1/2" in Mini size), or metric sizes from 6 to 20mm (6 to 12mm in Mini size). Each nominal size is available in either tight fit or medium fit — see Dimensions page for part numbers. Pins with a special head diameter are quickly made to order – please contact factory.
MOUNTING: A Locating Screw is included in the adaptor assembly. Tighten with a hex wrench before installing the locating pin. Insert locating pin and secure with a Lockscrew (furnished).
MATERIAL: Body > Steel, heat treated, black oxide finish. Bushing > High-carbon steel, heat treated.
