PALLET DECOUPLERS

Automatic Shutoff

Female Disconnect Double Coupler
(order separately)

A power unit with special controls is required for automatic-shutoff Pallet Decouplers. SeeElectric Power Units for Manual Pallet Decoupling.

7500 psi max
Single or Double Acting

FEATURES: Allows disconnecting a fixture from its power source before machining. Ideal for pallets and rotating fixtures where a fluid feed line is impractical. The automatic-shutoff version shown here (with two hose connections) can be used for single-acting or double-acting systems. Can also be used when several individual clamping valves are mounted on the fixture, which requires a return line. Automatic shutoff is achieved using a Pilot-Operated Check Valve, with no manual Shutoff Valve required. Pallet Decoupler includes Pilot-Operated Check Valve, two male Quick Disconnects, Accumulator, Pressure Gauge, and Pressure-Relief Valve. This compact assembly fits easily on almost any fixture.

MODELS AVAILABLE: Pallet Decouplers are offered with a choice of two Accumulator sizes — see Dimensions page for part numbers:
 Compact Accumulator
 Large Accumulator

POWER UNIT: An Electric Power Unit with special controls is required for automatic-shutoff Pallet Decouplers. This power unit's control box has a selector switch with three positions: "unclamped", "clamped", and "couple", along with a green signal lamp that lights in "clamped" position. Two solenoid-operated clamping valves provide one clamping-pressure port "A" and one unclamping-pressure port "B" (the same power unit and Pallet Decoupler can be used for either single-acting or double-acting systems). Please note: if clamping is controlled by individual clamping valves mounted on the fixture, with port "B" used as a depressurized return line, then no special power unit is required. In this application, one constant-pressure hose and one return hose are connected to the decoupler, so even a simple single-acting power unit can be used.

OPTIONAL SAFETY SUPPORT: We offer an optional safety support that should be mounted a convenient distance away from the machining fixture. This support has a dummy connections for the Female Disconnect Double Coupler, for use after the hydraulic hoses are disconnected from the Pallet Decoupler. An integral limit switch ensures that the fixture can be moved only if the double coupler has been correctly removed from the Pallet Decoupler and attached to the safety support.

OPERATION (SINGLE-ACTING OR DOUBLE-ACTING FIXTURE):
1. Remove protective caps from male Quick Disconnects on decoupler. Clean coupling components if necessary.
2. Connect double coupler, with both hydraulic hoses attached, to the Pallet Decoupler. The power unit should be depressurized, with the selector switch in "couple" position, before connection.
3. Turn selector switch to "unclamp" position.
4. After unloading and reloading the fixture, turn selector switch to "clamp" position.
5. After pressure gauge shows proper clamping pressure, turn selector switch to "couple" position.
6. Disconnect double coupler and replace protective caps on male Quick Disconnects. Double coupler can be connected to the optional safety support while not in use.

OPERATION (FIXTURE WITH SEVERAL INDIVIDUAL CLAMPING VALVES):
1. Remove protective caps from male Quick Disconnects on decoupler. Clean coupling components if necessary.
2. Connect double coupler, with both hydraulic hoses attached, to the Pallet Decoupler (one pressure line and one return-to-reservoir line). The power unit should be in "unclamped" mode (depressurized) before connection.
3. Push power-unit control button to "clamp". The individual clamping valves on the fixture are now operational.
4. Operate individual clamping valves on the fixture independently to remove finished parts and reload.
5. After all new workpieces are clamped, push power-unit control button to "unclamp".
6. Disconnect double coupler and replace protective caps on male Quick Disconnects. Double coupler can be connected to the optional safety support while not in use.

MOUNTING: Fasten to fixture with two 1/4" or M6 socket-head cap screws. Mount in any position, horizontal or vertical. 1/4" BSPP port. Do not use NPT fittings.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: Use Pallet Decouplers only with our power-workholding components, because all components must have zero leakage. The decoupler's Accumulator compensates for pressure variations due to temperature changes. This decoupler is equipped with a Pressure-Relief Valve to protect the fixture and Accumulator from extreme temperature increases.
