3400-4400 psi max Spring Force with Hydraulic Return
FEATURES: These short-stroke pull cylinders apply continuous force mechanically with belleville springs, using hydraulic pressure to unclamp. Especially suitable for long-term disconnected clamping of workpieces, fixtures, and pallets. Anti-rotation piston is useful for applications where plunger orientation is important. Since clamping force is straight pull, resisted by the lock ring (furnished), some axial play is available to prevent binding of the drawbar.
SIZES: Available in five sizes with the following spring forces — see Dimensions page for part numbers:| | 3600 Lbs | | | 5600 Lbs | | | 9000 Lbs | | | 14000 Lbs | | | 22000 Lbs |
CLAMPING ACTION: Applying fluid pressure extends the plunger downward to unclamp. When pressure is released, pull force is applied by belleville springs. Total stroke = 1mm (.039").
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS: Do not exceed maximum unclamping pressure in table. For applications requiring unclamping strokes greater than 1mm, more than 1 clamping cycle per minute, operating temperatures below 5° F or above 140° F, or positive stroke limitation, please contact factory.
MOUNTING: With all components in position, apply setting pressure to the Spring Clamping Cylinder so that spring force is zero at full retraction. Next, tighten the lock ring to remove all play. Finally, secure the ring nut to prevent turning, and if applicable, to prevent sliding. After 1000 cycles, recheck for play at the setting point and retighten lock ring if necessary.
FLUID CONNECTION: Two 1/4" BSPP ports provide a choice of radial or axial connection (a plug screw is furnished for one port). Do not use NPT fittings.
CONSTRUCTION: Spring mechanism > Low-friction belleville springs placed between hardened and ground thrust washers. Plunger > Steel, case hardened. Body > Steel, black oxide finish. |
