Clamping points far from the edge of the workpiece can be reached using custom-made clamping arms

7500 psi max Single Acting
FEATURES: These clamps have a lever arm that is extended and retracted by hand, then clamped hydraulically. Simple, solid design provides high force and long reach, with excellent protection against flood coolant, chips, and welding spatter. Ideal for clamping in narrow recesses. Clamping arm retracts completely flush for loading clearance. Even clamping points far from the edge of the workpiece can be reached using custom-made arms. Dual mounting capability: all clamps are ready for standard fittings and manifold mounting. All units are ready for optional position sensing.
SIZES: Available in two sizes — see Dimensions page for part numbers. Clamping force at 7500 psi: CLAMPING ACTION: Before clamping, slide the lever arm fully forward by hand until it reaches the integral stop. Applying fluid pressure advances the piston to apply clamping force. To unclamp, first release pressure (piston retracts by spring return), then slide the lever arm completely back for loading/unloading.
MOUNTING: Fasten using the socket-head cap screw provided. Tighten cap screw to the recommended torque in table.
FLUID CONNECTION: 1/4" BSPP port. For optional manifold mounting, use the manifold port underneath the clamp by unscrewing the sealing plug and installing a CLR-9210-132-F Connecting Insert (also install a CLR-810-F Port Plug in the 1/4" BSPP port). Do not use NPT fittings.
CLAMPING ARM: The standard clamping arm included with each clamp is tapped and furnished with a radius contact bolt. Longer lever arms can be used to reach clamping points farther from the edge of the workpiece. A long clamping arm (without a tapped hole) is available as an optional accessory, and longer blank arms are also available – please contact factory. Clamping force decreases inversely proportionally to the length of the lever, while clamping stroke increases directly proportionally (see diagram on Dimensions page). Clamping arms can be quickly exchanged to accommodate a family of parts.
OPTIONAL POSITION SENSING: All units are ready to install position sensing. A proximity switch can be installed in either the right or left side. Order a CLR-3829-098-PM inductive proximity switch, and a CLR-3829-099-PM right-angle plug with cable. Please note: the proximity switch signals only the position "clamping arm forward", not that clamping force is applied. A pressure switch can be added for fully safe clamping control.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS & SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: Due to the required manual operation of the clamping lever, additional precautions must be taken to ensure that hands are completely clear of the work area before hydraulic clamping pressure is applied. The lever arm must be fully forward before clamping. In conditions with excessive chips, the sliding slots may need to be cleaned occasionally. Clamping height must be within the range indicated in the dimension tables.
