FEATURES: This Edge Clamp incorporates our exclusive "Locking Support Plunger", to provide clamping and supporting in one element. Edge Clamps grip the side of a workpiece, pushing forward and downward simultaneously. Ideal when clamping from above is difficult. These clamps sit low, but clamp high, just below the cutter path for maximum rigidity, to reduce vibration. Horizontal force is 94% of total force, while downward force is 34% of total force. Pivoting nose is designed to resist side forces at the clamping point. Nose cover keeps out chips and debris. Dual mounting capability: all clamps are ready for standard fittings and manifold mounting.
APPLICATIONS: Clamps with locking support plungers exert relatively little clamping force, but provide a high support force in the opposite direction. They are particularly suitable for clamping thin-walled workpieces with minimum deformation, as well as for floating clamping.

CLAMPING ACTION: Applying fluid pressure advances the piston, which in turn pushes the pivoting nose forward and down. The piston simultaneously expands like a work support to lock inside the cylinder body. Spring return pivots arm back and returns the piston for loading/unloading.
ACCURACY: As a work support, this clamp has an elastic deformation of only .00017" per 100 lbs machining force.
MOUNTING: Fasten clamp with four socket-head cap screws. For manifold mounting, the mounting surface must be ground flat to ensure proper O-ring sealing. To provide maximum support force, the clamp must be secured to the fixture using the key slot.
FLUID CONNECTION: 1/4" BSPP port. For optional manifold mounting, use the manifold port underneath the clamp by unscrewing the sealing plug and installing an CLR-3000-347 O-ring (also install a CLR-810-F Port Plug in the 1/4" BSPP port). Do not use NPT fittings.
CONSTRUCTION: Body > Steel, black oxide finish. Nose > Alloy steel, heat treated Rc 54-58, black oxide finish. Nose is through-hardened so that it can be ground to suit the workpiece if desired. |
