(April, 2009) Carr Lane CEO Earl Walker and President Lanny Lamont visited the Austin, Texas Drill Bushing Plant April 21-22, 2009 to see first hand the status of the changes since the February 18, 2009 fire. Earl was amazed at the progress of Mark Badgley, general manager of the drill bushing plant, and his crew of dedicated employees, and what they had accomplished in only two months time.
Even though Mark had been stunned with disbelief after the fire, he had rolled up his sleeves, and along with a loyal and dedicated crew, has found a temporary home for Drill Bushing located at 2001 Enterprise in Round Rock, Texas. This involved acquiring machinery and office furniture, as well as digging through ankle-deep sludge looking for anything salvageable.
No moss grew on the St. Louis personnel either, as they immediately started the progress to re-route orders, accessing inventory and finding ways to continue to serve customers.
Earl Walker stated that plans are under way to start rebuilding the Austin Plant, and he estimates it will take about one year to be back to where the company was before the fire.
For now, employees are already working at the new location, which is manufacturing and shipping drill bushings and ball lock pins.
"I'd like to personally thank our many customers for their patience during this very difficult time for us. Without a little help from our friends, this bad situation could have been much worse," Earl said.
