(July, 2010) Carr Lane Drill Bushing is in the process of moving back
to its original location in Austin, Texas. As you probably
know, the plant suffered from a devastating fire in February,
2009 and had to temporarily relocate to nearby Round
Rock, Texas. Now, the old building has been renovated.
"People are excited to be moving back," said Mark Badgley, general manager of Carr Lane Drill Bushing. "We should be finished moving mid-August. "It's been stressful, and a lot of work, and people are sad we are moving back without Larry Jensen (honing department supervisor), who recently passed away. He'd been really looking forward to the move.
"But on the positive side, it's a good feeling to be putting this company back together. It's been very gratifying in some ways. We've had lots of friends, distributors, and people we've worked with over the years who have helped us with our particular needs. For example, one of my friends, who owns a local company, told one of his associates we needed shelves, and he supplied us with a bunch of shelving...for free! It was such a nice thing for him to do.
"In many ways, this ordeal has brought out the best in people. Many of our employees have really given extra effort to make this company succeed," said Mark.
"In the near future, we plan to be back to providing the kind of service we have provided for the 30 years I've been with the company, and to improve on it as much as possible. We are really grateful to Earl Walker and to Carr Lane that we are being given the opportunity to rebuild this company." |
