3600 psi max Double Acting
FEATURES: Fixture Vises are extremely compact power vises designed to be incorporated into workholding fixtures. Because they do not have a leadscrew for adjustment, Fixture Vises use exchangeable, machineable clamping jaws that must be custom sized for the workpiece. Slim, solid vise body with high-rigidity and complete protection against dirt and chips. Manifold mounting is standard for maximum compactness and mounting flexibility, but fluid can alternatively be supplied using standard fittings by adding an optional Adaptor Plate. The self-centering version shown here is designed to center and clamp a workpiece using an exterior contour as a reference surface. High-precision centering with +/-.0008" repeatability.
SIZES: Available in two sizes, with 40mm and 65mm jaw widths – see Dimensions page for part numbers. Clamping force at 3600 psi:| | 40mm Jaw | | 2100 Lbs | | | 65mm Jaw | | 3300 Lbs |
CLAMPING ACTION: Applying fluid pressure to the A (clamping) port advances two hydraulic pistons integrated into the vise body. The piston forces are transfered via a guided connecting link to the two clamping slides so that concentric synchronization is obtained. Switching pressure to the B (unclamping) port moves the slides positively outward, via the same connecting link. Self-centering Fixture Vises can only be used to clamp inward, on the exterior of a workpiece.
MOUNTING: Self-Centering Fixture Vises have two locating holes underneath for dowel pins, to provide precise alignment on a fixture plate. Fasten from below with eight socket-head cap screws (Mounting Option 1). If fastening from below is not possible, or to use standard fittings instead of manifold mounting, order the optional Adaptor Plate (Mounting Option 2 or 3). Self-Centering Fixture Vises can be mounted in any position, horizontal or vertical.
FLUID CONNECTION: Fluid is supplied to manifold ports A and B underneath the vise through drilled passages in the fixture (install two CLR-9210-132-F Connecting Inserts). O-ring port S is provided for central lubrication of the clamping slide. Do not use NPT fittings.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS: Self-Centering Fixture Clamps can only be used for exterior clamping. Every 500 clamping cycles, the clamping slide should be lubricated using port S provided for central lubrication. Never use up the entire clamping stroke, to ensure safe clamping of the workpiece with full force. Clamping jaws should always rest against the end supports, because the fastening screws alone cannot resist the maximum clamping forces.
CLAMPING JAWS: Because Fixture Vises do not have a leadscrew for adjustment, clamping jaws must be custom sized for the workpiece. Exchangeable, machineable blank clamping jaws (4130 steel) are sold separately – see Dimensions page for part numbers, as well as for dimensions of user-manufactured jaws. |
