FEATURES: Combination locator and clamp. Concentric Clamping Elements are used to simultaneously locate and clamp on internal diameters from 1" to 10". 3-point elements provide primary location, centering the workpiece in both axes. 2-point elements provide secondary location, centering in one axis. All plungers advance exactly at the same time for centering repeatability of .0008". Ideal for holding workpieces with cast or machined bores, when absolute centering is required regardless of hole tolerance.
SIZES: Concentric Clamping Elements are available for internal diameters from 1" to 10" (29 different standard sizes, each covering a small range of diameters). Clamping force at 3600 psi increases with diameter, from 2200 lbs in small diameters to 15000 lbs in large diameters — see Dimensions page for part numbers.
CLAMPING ACTION: Applying fluid pressure to the A (clamping) passage advances all plungers simultaneously. Switching pressure to the B (unclamping) passage retracts the plungers.
MOUNTING: Several mounting options are available:
1) Direct manifold mounting
2) Mounting Flanges (manifold
mounting or standard 1/4 BSPP fittings)
3) Mounting Segments (manifold
mounting)
FLUID CONNECTION: Concentric Clamping Elements have two fluid passages underneath. For direct mounting, fluid passages must be drilled exactly as shown in the drawings. Do not use NPT fittings.
ACCESSORIES: All elements (except the smallest size) are supplied with hardened, radiused contact bolts. If the workpiece's tolerance range falls between two clamping ranges, contact bolts can be altered or replaced to change the clamping diameter.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS: Concentric Clamping Elements are not suitable for use on turning machines.
CONSTRUCTION: Plunger > Steel, case hardened. Body > Steel, black oxide finish. Contact Bolts > Steel, hardened.
