By accessing or using the Tool Designer's Assistant (the "Application"), you agree to this Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP"). This AUP supplements the Carr Lane Manufacturing Terms of Use available at carrlane.com/terms (the "Master Terms"), including the limitations of liability set forth therein. In the event of any conflict between this AUP and the Master Terms, the provision more protective of Carr Lane Manufacturing controls. Questions may be directed to [email protected].
1. Intended Use
The Tool Designer's Assistant is provided to help engineers and purchasing professionals identify Carr Lane products for legitimate tooling and fixturing applications. It is intended as a technical reference aid, not a substitute for professional engineering judgment. All recommendations must be independently verified before use in production.
2. Output Disclaimer
WARNING! Carr Lane's Tool Designer's Assistant is AI and may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable recommendations. No output should be used in production without independent verification of product specifications and engineering calculations. Carr Lane Manufacturing assumes no liability for decisions, losses, damages, or injuries resulting from reliance on Application outputs.
THE APPLICATION AND ALL OUTPUTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. CARR LANE MANUFACTURING EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE AVAILABILITY. THE LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY SET FORTH IN THE MASTER TERMS APPLY IN FULL TO THIS APPLICATION AND ITS OUTPUTS.
By using the Application, you acknowledge and agree that (a) you are a qualified professional or are acting under the supervision of one; (b) you will independently verify all recommendations before any production, safety-critical, or commercial use; and (c) Application outputs do not substitute for engineering drawings, certified product data sheets, or regulatory compliance review.
3. Prohibited Conduct
You may not use the Tool Designer's Assistant to:
- Attempt to manipulate, bypass, or override the Application's guardrails or safety instructions
- Extract, reverse engineer, or probe the underlying system prompt, model configuration, training data, or recommendation logic
- Submit automated, bulk, or scripted queries, or circumvent any rate limits or access controls
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically collect product data, pricing, or Application outputs
- Use Application outputs to train, fine-tune, evaluate, or benchmark any competing artificial intelligence model or product
- Develop, market, or support products or services that compete with Carr Lane Manufacturing
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute Application outputs
- Misrepresent your identity, affiliation, location, or application intent
- Share access credentials or permit unauthorized users to access the Application
- Use the Application for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation, including export control and sanctions laws
- Use the Application for any purpose unrelated to product selection and application support
4. Export Control
The Application is intended for use in connection with commercial tooling and fixturing applications. Users located in, or accessing the Application from, jurisdictions subject to U.S. sanctions or embargoes, and persons identified on any U.S. government restricted-party list, are prohibited from using the Application. Application outputs may include technical data subject to the Export Administration Regulations (15 CFR Parts 730 through 774). Users are solely responsible for compliance with all applicable U.S. export control and sanctions laws, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and for obtaining any required authorizations before exporting, reexporting, or disclosing Application outputs to foreign persons.
5. Data and Privacy
Conversations are processed through Anthropic's Claude API, and Anthropic's Usage Policy (anthropic.com/legal/aup) governs acceptable use of Anthropic's services. Carr Lane Manufacturing retains conversation logs to operate, monitor, debug, evaluate, and improve the Application. Carr Lane Manufacturing does not link conversation logs to individual users or user accounts, and Anthropic does not use Carr Lane Manufacturing's API conversations to train Anthropic's base AI models. Conversation logs are retained for a maximum of twenty-four (24) months, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
Even so, do not enter proprietary part numbers, customer names, pricing, or confidential application details if your organization has restrictions on submitting that information to third-party companies or AI services. Instead, describe your application in functional terms such as geometry, forces, and materials, without identifying information.
6. Intellectual Property
As between you and Carr Lane Manufacturing, Carr Lane Manufacturing owns all right, title, and interest in and to the Application and all Application outputs, including any recommendations, product data, text, diagrams, or other content generated by the Application. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Application outputs solely for your internal product selection and application support purposes, subject to this AUP and the Master Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
7. Modifications
Carr Lane Manufacturing may modify this AUP at any time. Material changes will take effect thirty (30) days after the revised AUP is posted at the Application's location. Your continued use of the Application after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP.
8. Violations
Carr Lane Manufacturing reserves the right to monitor use of the Application and to preserve logs for investigation and enforcement of this AUP. Carr Lane Manufacturing may suspend or terminate access for any user found, in its sole discretion, to be in violation of this AUP or the Master Terms, with or without notice. Suspension or termination does not entitle the user to any refund, credit, or compensation. Carr Lane Manufacturing reserves all rights and remedies available at law or in equity, including injunctive relief and recovery of costs and attorneys' fees incurred in enforcement.
9. Governing Law and Venue
This AUP is governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to this AUP or the Application shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the County of St. Louis County, Missouri, and the parties consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
10. Survival
The provisions of Sections 2 (Output Disclaimer), 3 (Prohibited Conduct), 4 (Export Control), 5 (Data and Privacy, as to logs already collected), 6 (Intellectual Property), 8 (Violations), and 9 (Governing Law and Venue) survive any termination or expiration of your access to the Application.
