Design Standards & Engineering Information

Within the Design Standards & Engineering information section, find general information on Carr Lane product measurement standards, tolerances and information on engineering changes which may occur to improve the quality of our products.

As Carr Lane is a worldwide manufacturer of tooling components, we follow the International (ISO) standard for metric thread callouts rather than ANSI standards commonly used in the United States. This section of the site includes a conversion chart detailing the ISO thread designation compared to its ANSI equivalent to make purchasing our products easier for those more familiar with ANSI. Standard Drill Sizes are also detailed in a separate chart.

Carr Lane guarantees the quality of its products. Get the product information you need by browsing our design standards & engineering information below.

Metric thread sizes are specified differently than inch thread sizes. Inch sizes are specified using the nominal major diameter and the number of threads per inch. For example, a 3/8-16 (coarse) thread has a 3/8” nominal major diameter and 16 threads per inch, while a 3/8-24 (fine) thread has the same nominal major diameter and 24 threads per inch.
