Threaded Inserts

Key locking threaded inserts are also known as key inserts, keyserts, or keenserts.

Keenserts provide a strong, permanent thread in a weaker parent material. These easy to install and remove tools are commonly used to repair threads on ferrous, non-ferrous, or non-metallic metals like aluminum and magnesium. Key inserts are not recommended for use in brittle materials like cast iron and plastic.

For thread repair, key inserts can be used if the defected thread is replaced with a key insert of the same nominal diameter.

Carr Lane Mfg. Co. Keenserts feature locking keys that provide a mechanical lock that cannot be rotated due to vibration or torsion. They can be installed with standard drills and taps with no specialty tools required.

Regular changing of parts can wear down threads over time, especially when they are made from softer metals.

A solid version of threaded insert is also available to use as a handy plug to relocate holes drilled or tapped in the wrong location.

Carr Lane Mfg. Co. is the world's preferred source of tooling components since 1952. We stock a large selection of steel and stainless steel key inserts in inch and metric sizes. Special key insert installation tools offered by Carr Lane Mfg. CO. ensure a perfectly straight and fully recessed installation.
