KOSMEK High-Power Welding Swing Clamps are pneumatic swing clamps with a built-in mechanical lock, designed specifically for automated welding fixtures where spatter resistance and high holding force are critical. The clamp operates with compressed air to apply initial clamping force, then engages a mechanical boosting piston and wedge mechanism to multiply holding force to up to three times the applied clamping force, depending on arm length. This mechanical lock maintains full holding force even if pneumatic pressure is lost, providing fail-safe retention during welding operations.
A triple protective structure shields the cylinder from weld spatter contamination. Special rod surface finishing protects the piston rod, a coil scraper removes adhered spatter, a soft wiper provides secondary cleaning, and a dust seal prevents contaminant ingress. This spatter-resistant design extends service life in high-power welding environments. The clamp requires no hydraulic system, operating on standard compressed air at 2 to 5 Bar greatly simplifying installation compared to hydraulic clamping systems.
The mechanical locking design delivers three times the clamping force compared to general pneumatic cylinders of equivalent size, allowing a smaller footprint and reduced fixture weight. Minimal clamping force combined with high mechanical holding force reduces workpiece distortion while providing sufficient strength to withstand welding reaction forces and thermal deformation. The clamp can be integrated with an auto switch for action confirmation in automated systems; magnetic field resistant models are recommended for welding applications. Standard Arms are available, see Accessories.
WHG High-Power Swing Clamps are available in right swing (2GR) and left swing (2GL) configurations across four body sizes Size 100 (1kN clamping / 2 kN holding), Size 160 (1.6 kN / 3 kN), Size 250 (2.4 kN / 5 kN), and Size 400 (3.9 kN / 8 kN). Addittional sizes and variants are available. Made in Japan.
