Hydraulic Decouplers are pressure-holding valves that maintain circuit pressure in a hydraulic fixture after the hydraulic power source has been disconnected. When the supply line is coupled and pressurized, the decoupler allows full flow through to the actuator. Once the coupler is disconnected, an internal check function traps and holds the downstream pressure, keeping clamps engaged without a continuous connection to the hydraulic power source.

This pressure-holding capability allows fixtures to be removed from the machine and set up externally while hydraulic actuators remain clamped, reducing machine downtime and setup time. Because pressure is maintained internally, the number of hydraulic circuits required inside the machine can be minimized. Decouplers are well suited for flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) where pallets and fixtures must transfer freely between operations without hydraulic hose management concerns.

Pressure is released by pulling up the lever on the valve body; after holding the lever for approximately one second, downstream pressure releases even when the lever is returned to its lowered position. A double-acting model is also available, designated by A1/A2 incoming and outgoing ports and B1/B2 ports for the secondary circuit. In the double-acting configuration, the A2 port side pressure is held unless hydraulic pressure is supplied to the B1 port, providing fall-prevention functionality in the event of a power loss. Built-in filters are incorporated at the A1 and A2 inlet ports.
