Floating Fixture Vises can only be used for exterior clamping. Every 500 clamping cycles, the clamping slide should be lubricated using port S provided for central lubrication. Never use up the entire clamping stroke, to ensure safe clamping of the workpiece with full force. Clamping jaws should always rest against the end supports, because the fastening screws alone cannot resist the maximum clamping forces. During the floating stage before clamping, the clamping jaw that makes first contact will exert a small contact force (11 to 22 lbs, depending on the stroke difference) – see graph on Dimensions page.
