Ball Lock Pins & Quick-Release Pins
Carr Lane Button Handle Ball Lock Pins are compact, high-strength quick-release alignment pins designed for applications where space around the handle is limited. The low-profile cylindrical button handle requires less surrounding clearance than Carr Lane’s T-, L-, or Ring-handle styles, making it especially useful in closely spaced fixtures, compact assemblies, and tooling where larger handles could interfere with nearby components.
These standard single-acting Button Handle Ball Lock Pins remain positively locked until the release button is pressed. Depressing the button moves the internal center spindle forward, allowing the locking balls to retract into the pin shank for quick insertion or removal. Releasing the button returns the locking balls to their extended position to retain the pin securely.
The button is positioned at the top of the cylindrical handle, providing straightforward fingertip actuation while maintaining a compact overall profile. Because the design provides minimal leverage compared with T- and L-handles, Button Handle Ball Lock Pins are particularly well suited to applications where minimizing protrusion and conserving space are more important than maximizing gripping leverage.
Carr Lane Button Handle Ball Lock Pins use a single-acting, positive-locking mechanism for quick manual installation and removal without tools. In the normal position, locking balls extend from the shank to retain the pin after installation. Pressing the top-mounted release button advances the center spindle and allows the locking balls to retract. When the button is released, the spring-loaded mechanism returns to the locked position.
The primary technical advantage of the button-handle design is its compact space envelope. Unlike T- and L-handles, the Button Handle does not extend perpendicular to the pin axis. Its low-profile cylindrical shape requires minimal lateral clearance and allows multiple ball lock pins to be positioned close together without projecting handles interfering with adjacent pins or components.
Standard Button Handle Ball Lock Pins are available in:

Carr Lane offers several options for configuring a standard Button Handle Ball Lock Pin, along with specialized button-handle ball lock pin families for applications requiring different environmental or durability characteristics.
Button Handle Ball Lock Pins are particularly useful when positive locking and quick release are required but the available space around the pin is limited. Their compact handle minimizes protrusion while retaining the alignment and quick-change benefits of a precision ball lock pin.
